IRENE - CANDLE- MAKER

Irene learned to make candles from recycled materials in a one-time seminar Father Jacob offered. In her evaluation she said "I have been at home being helped for many years. For the first time, I am able to help my family." In the future, we hope to offer other workshops where people with epilepsy can learn other crafts that they can sell.

OUR STUDENTS

WINFRIDA - SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT

We gave Winfrida a scholarship to attend one of the most prestigious all-women's high schools in Tanzania. When she applied for the scholarship, she wanted to be an elementary school teacher. Now she's thinking of going to college for physics. Last year, she graduated fifth in her class.

AMIR - CARPENTER

Amir had never had a job until he enrolled in our carpentry program. Now he is an apprentice to a local carpenter. He has used his income to move to his own apartment, away from an abusive uncle. Here, he shows off a stool he made.

JACKELINE - SEAMSTRESS

Jackeline is enrolled in our tailoring program. She is learning to make clothing that she will be able to sell to community members from her home. She used her stipend during her training to send her daughter to school for the first time.
